A quiet Saturday

I woke up late under my cozy mosquito net! It was nice not to have to rush off to anywhere. I wanted to do a bit of cooking today so I have some things prepared for the week. I lit the oven with a match and I hate that big puff of flames in a gas oven you have to light with a match. And there is no temperature gauge. So I think it was awfully hot too fast, but I didn't know how to turn it down!

I had brought a cake mix that is my sugar free chocolate one I made up. It's made with flax seed and stevia etc. I had boiled some beets that I bought in Eldoret and ate some last night. It's so interesting when you don't have veggies how you begin to crave them and they become such a treat. So last night, for my night time snack I ate beets and they were really yummy!

Today I grated some beets on a cheese grater and added them to my chocolate cake mix. So I have a treat for the rest of the week. Then I used my aged whole wheat dough and made some cinnimon rolls. I burned them because the oven is too hot, but they are not inedible.

I also baked a whole tray of tomatoes, peppers, garlic and onion, so I can make a sauce of them to put on beans, rice or pasta or maybe some pizza type thing.

So eating here is different, but I'm up for the challenge.

I took a nice realaxing walk in the back yard to show you some pictures of the beauty! These Kenyans live simply and don't have a lot, but they live in one of the most beautiful places with the best weather ever! With a goat bleating in the front yard and birds constantly chirping away, a walk if you want to see monkeys. Very peaceful!

This is how my house is built. Most houses are either brick or block.
