It's been a little over a year since I was able to travel and I suddenly got a travel bug!
When Lisa, a midwife from South Carolina,, that has been to Dominican Republic many times, asked me if I'd like to go with her on her next mission trip and be a shift leader, I jumped on the chance.
The Last few weeks have been a frenzy of getting everything ready to go. I had quite a bit of things in the garage that I've been storing up for my next mission trip, plus donations people had been giving me to take, but I'm afraid they were buried under piles of stuff because I am redoing a wall in my garage and cleaning it. So in order to get the donations out, I had to first finish my garage project!
During and after pictures, feels so good to get that project finished!
Once I pulled all the stuff out I met some ladies at the church and they helped me make little gift packs for moms and pack up 2 big tubs of all sorts of supplies. We got them all weighed so each tub would be 50 lbs and no more!
Getting prepared for a long trip is complicated with making sure all my pregnant moms will be taken care of, preparing the house for winter, making sure bills are paid, making sure all the plane tickets, visa's etc etc.
I had a prenatal luncheon one day to make sure I saw everyone before I left. Served cream of broccoli and veggie soup with homemade sour dough bread too.
Then I had to get my stuffed packed. Always like to travel with just a carry-on myself and check in only the donations, it's a challenge to see how little I can bring.
After everything at home was ready, I headed to kalispell to begin my journey!
I'm hoping to post each day and will be glad for you to follow along!
