I’m so excited to be able to start preparing for mission trips again. My first planned trip this year is to the Dominican republic this fall. It’s not a long trip, only two weeks there.
I will be working in a hospital overseeing six students. This hospital does approximately 35 births per day!! Some of the pictures I saw of postpartum moms, there was 4 moms sitting on one bed with their babies! I’m not exactly sure what to expect but I’m excited for what God has opened up and I’m sure it will be an experience in adventure no matter what.
My first adventure away from home this summer was to Medford Oregon. I went to learn and get certified to teach two more classes. This class is called “essential care for every baby” and included taking care of small babies too. It was a fun class and I’m so glad to have more certifications that will be useful on the mission field.
I also was able to attend a retreat/board meeting with an organization I’m a part of and they are the ones helping us get certified for these classes. We have found that teaching the locals is an effective way to help in low resource countries.
. The organization is called perinatal rescue Network. It was so nice to meet with others with the same heart desires and with some over zoom that are out there already doing the work.
The organization blessed me with a whole suitcase of teaching supplies. I got a couple of premie babies this time, feeding cups, penguin suction bulbs. Spanish books to teach classes!
After two days of classes we did a little touristy walk-through Lithium park and tasted the terrible water this park is famous for in Ashland. We found a sugar-free chocolate peanut butter candy and had a very interesting coffee drink with alternative coffee, cocoa and mushrooms! When I ordered it I was just thinking they were healthy mushrooms but later I was hoping they weren’t some weird mushrooms! 🤪
Although the flights to Medford were short, flying anywhere seems to take so much time with all the waiting.
I’m so happy to see our airports updating for nursing moms! Isn’t that cute with the rocking chair?
