I feel in my soul my trip started yesterday when I started to message a midwife friend of mine, that is already at the hospital in Kenya where I am going to be for the month of Sept. In exactly 3 weeks time I will be getting on a flight in Seattle for the first leg of my journey. This journey is going to be life changing!!! Not because of the excitement or the experience, but I feel deep in my soul that God is doing something radical!! Up to this point I had no idea what that could mean, but after chatting with her I'm starting to get an idea of what it might be like there and of course I'm wondering what God is going to do with my future!!
She sent a few pictures and shared with me some of the heart ache and needs. Talked about having 6 women in labor and nursing students forgetting to check heart tones. Of babies dying because of things that would have been easily preventable here in the USA.
I realized the importance of brining some medical items with me and this put my trip on another course. Visiting with the church and a few other friends about the needs and within days we had $1000's of dollars to get some good quality equipment to bring!
I'm so blessed how generous people are when there is a need. I feel like I'm going on this trip being sent by my friends and family! May God bless us all in the adventure!
