House building in Kenya

When I arrived I saw a pile of cement blocks. I was told there is a long term volunteer coming that needed a house. So this will be her house.

Once work started it was going really fast! Every morning a bunch of workers were out doing so much work and by the time I walked back each evening I could see the progress each day! In the 2 weeks I saw them building so much got done. I was disappointed I couldn't see it completed. I'll have to have someone send me pictures

At one time I saw a cement mixer, but mostly it looked like they were doing every thing by hand.

Lots of workers!

They dug all the foundation by hand. Dug the trench for bringing water in by hand. The only piece of equipment I ever saw was the cement mixer.

I think this is about 15x20' with a loft bedroom on one side. It's going to be beautiful. There is a small back deck to look out over that incredible view.

They had to pour cement in all the blocks by handing up 5 gallon buckets of cement to the person up above.

Here is a walk through one evening
