I wasn’t sure if I could make this trip happen so fast. But looking at my calendar and when I have births scheduled I knew that this would be my only chance to go. It completely amazes me how God just works one thing after another and puts it all together.
For instance I really needed a “helping babies breathe“ class and those are not easy to find. This is the main class I will be teaching over and over! I thought maybe I could just find someone that could at least review with me before I left to make sure I’m on the right track. Since I'm flying out of Seattle I decided to look at the Facebook page for Washington midwives. When I opened up Facebook, a Seattle midwife had posted a couple hours before that she was teaching the very class I needed. She just so happened to have the day before we fly out completely free and can teach and certify me!
One item I was wanting to bring with me was sheets. They only seemed to have tattered sheets there. It turns out our hospital just happened to be getting all new sheets!
I made it to Seattle! 1st stop on my way to Kenya! Packing was a challenge! I was very glad to have Monica around to help organize me and Tyler to carry out heavy bags! I have 3 huge suitcases full of sheets, receiving blankets, underpads, cups for water, stethoscopes, batteries, newborn pulse ox with a battery charger!
