I'm loving every bit of this adventure God has me on!

I started my day with devotions with the other volunteers and the long term missionaries. The long term couple have been here for 25 years. He's a surgeon, and has a love for the Bible and teaching! His wife Laura is an amazing woman! She seems to be there for everyone, organizing, answering questions and she has a huge gift for hospitality.

Then I ate an great breakfast of oatmeal with apples in it. I only mention that because only yesterday did I actually start eating again after the gallbladder attack. I'm being very careful, but am totally enjoying the food I am eating!

They did offer me some food and chia at the hospital and I didn't try it, not knowing what my gallbadder can handle. Sometimes I'm not very adventurous! The cabbage looked good. The other stuff, looked maybe like a corn mush?

I got to the hospital after 9 and joined the doctors finishing rounds. Got my bearings to who is in labor, or being induced. or issues we are concerned about. Cynthia the head nurse decided to teach me how to enter records and such into the computer. The Computer here is a new thing I'm told in the last year. It means we can bring up lab reports, enter things in to be billed etc.

It seemed like a pretty slow morning in labor and delivery, so I went up to see if they need my help in the prenatal clinic. Prenatal's are a bit harder because you really need to speak Swahili. I did one prenatal on a staff nurse who spoke perfect English. I asked her what she ate yesterday and she laughed and thought that was so funny for me to ask. I explained that's what we do in America (in midwifery practice) and she said, we just check to make sure they are eating at all. They don't have a problem here of processed food or too many sweets. It's just not available. I ended up having a lovely visit with the student nurses who are up there on rotation.

When I got back there was quite the problems going on, which I can't go into here, but the issues that come up are very different then our issues in America.
