Italy: It’s early in the morning as my flight landed at 5 am and after a bit of a train ride, my wonderful Airbnb host took me from the train station to about 30 minutes away into a tiny little village in the region of Umbria. I need to meet up with my friends on Friday back in Rome so I didn't’ want to go too far, but then I certainly didn’t want to be in the city either. I felt like this time here in the next few days is one for rest and refreshment, physically and spiritually.
The town is of course extremely old, like so many little villages in Italy.
My host brought me up three stories with my heavy suitcase which is actually more like six sets of stairs because their ceilings are very high and brought me to, what she called the “director’s apartment”. The building is in a very old theater that her father owned. I’m not sure if they produced movies here or just showed them back in the 60s and it was so popular to come to the theater that her father also put in a restaurant on the 3rd floor too. When you look inside, it’s like it stepping back in time.
