Last few days

I might not have much time to write the next two days because they’ve packed me full of classes! I leave on Friday instead of Saturday because I will take my Covid test in Nairobi, wait 24 hours for results and fly out Saturday. With the new regulations that started, it’s a little confusing what we need to do exactly. But we got the plan in gear now!!!

I started my day on Wednesday going to chapel. They had stopped all gatherings for a while because of Covid, so it was nice to gather with some staff and nurses. Last time I was here we had devotions every morning and they haven't been able to do that. So at chapel they sing and pray, have a devotion then sing and pray some more! 😊 It was wonderful! Then we handed out certificates to the nurses that took the class.

We were able to give a scrub shirt or a watch to all the nurses that took the class. They had to come in on their day off to take the class and it's about 5 hours or more. So it was a sacrifice.

The other day when I delivered that baby I thought it was gonna be my last this trip because I knew my schedule was pretty packed with classes. But I had a couple hours between chapel so I stopped in the labor room and there was a mom about to deliver right then. The nurse asked me if I could take over because she had to go give report. I of course was very happy to help! 😊❤️! I had no information on this mom and she was already pushing. At one point and look down and see how small my mom’s belly is and I think "this is going to be a tiny baby". and it sure was it was!!! He was only 2 lbs. 6 oz! He did breathe and cry right away, but had to send him off to the nursery to help him continue breathing. Rianne happened to show up and also another new volunteer PA so I was glad to hand this baby off to some skilled to help him.

They don't have CPAP or other equipment to help these little ones, but Rianne worked hard and this little guy is still doing good!

So thankful for the spo2 monitors I brought along. They are in constant use and when there is a baby like this, it gives us eyes to how his little lungs are working.

After staying with the mom about an hour, I left to go teach my class. This was a continuation of the 12 from the day before.

I'm enjoying every minute of teaching!
