Malta

Off to Malta! Malta is an island off Sicily. It is not Italy but a country in itself. They speak Maltese, Italian and English. This is where the Apostle Paul was ship wrecked and got bit by the snake! We are so excited to see all the history and tour the whole island!

We decided to take a ferry instead of flying over to Malta. The flights are cheap, but you end up spending the whole day in lines at airports and being stressed about luggage requirements. So we we were really looking forward to a different adventure! And it was wonderful, although a bit more expensive I suppose!

We took a taxi to the train staition and instead of getting on the normal modern train, they directed us to a very old train around the corner. There were not enough seats for everyone, and there was no air-conditioning! The windows open, but most of them were stuck. All part of the adventure for sure!

We took a taxi to the ferry and it was huge and beautiful. We had cappuccinos and we had brought a lunch with us. They had tables with beautiful views. It was a comfortable, beautiful way to travel across the Mediterranean sea!

We were picked up by our airbnb host and taken through a very, very crowded city. They drive on the lefts side of the road here and speak English. Malta was ruled by Britain for about 150 years, so all the kids only speak English in school They also have Maltese language here. But there are many nationalities her

Malta has 354 churches on this small island. The Island is only 17 miles long x 9 miles wide.

Some are big cathedrals and some just small churches. We went to two churches called St Paul shipwrecked church. One was very small and the other ornate.

Those candle sticks and candles are about 7 feet tall!

We had such a relaxing time walking along the beach, eating different foods, taking the bus to touristy areas, seeing the sites and taking a million pictures!
