I couldn't find Marica in any of the travel books I read, so I was expecting a very small town. It is not at all what I expected! It's a very large city and reminds me very much of Southern California. With Lots and lots of houses and apartments, nice freeways, and the beautiful Sea. Not the ocean, but the "sea".
I've never had an Airbnb host that actually wanted to "hang out" before. But Makala is from Italy and wanted to take me all around. She has a car and the day was very interesting. Not always in my comfort zone, but I definitely got to experience Spain and my wonderful host was very kind!
I started my day with jet lag truly hitting and I couldn't get out of bed!! What a waste of a day! I told Makala I wanted to go to church and she thought the service started at noon. So I rushed to get ready and we were off to a beautiful church building on top of a little mountain top. But there didn't seem to be a service, so we just hung out and took some pictures.
Then we took a walk in the center of town and saw some other amazing church buildings that were closed, and the government office buildings. We went into an air conditioned restaurant. It's very hot and humid here! I ate some egg bake thing. It was good and healthier then the other choices. but I am feeling like I want to try things, not just eat healthy, Haha
I told her I wanted to taste something authentic and she said I know where they make authentic Palla for $3 on Sunday. So off we went and we got the real thing. With a huge pan over an open fire. Roasting red peppers, cooking chicken etc. We spent hours there, in the nice atmosphere.
I was thinking it was time to go home, but off we went to the Seaside! Because we still had the whole evening ahead! The sea is nice and warm, beautiful. There was one lady with no top on and I was embarrassed for her, but she didn't seem to be.
Then off to hear some music which was fine. Maybe not my thing, but it seemed to make her happy for me to keep her company.
Finally got back to the house at about 1 am, and here I am typing! Jet lag is very interesting!
