Nairobi slums/ clinic

What a long crazy day. We left Kapsowar in the morning with a 2 hour drive to Eldoret. There we went to an outdoor market to get some local items. It was fun to give each booth some business.

Then on to a flight to Nairobi. In Nairobi we were picked up by our Samaritain purse driver.

From there we drove to ” the slums”. We wanted to visit a hospital/ birth center that a friend spent some time at.

It was right in the middle of the "slums". Nairobi has one of the largest slums Africa. Our Samaritain purse driver took us there and kept us safe! We saw some of the living conditions of closer then in past trips. Most of the homes were made with metal and just look like sheds. I couldn't get good pictures as we didn't stop and it's not safe to put the camera by the window in the car we were told.

The birth center itself was very nice and well run. I was quite impressed with the organization that they have right there in the middle of the slums. Monthly prenatal appointments, encouraging husband or sister to be there with mom, skin to skin etc. I was impressed! These things are not normal for Africa

So then we went from the “slums” to our hotel which was very fancy!

I felt like I jumped from one culture to the next in a matter of a few miles.

From the mountains, to the airport, to the slums, to the hotel, then out to dinner for a real hamburger!

A full day! Ending with an amazing shower!

No misquotes, and a nice bed.
