I taught my first 2 days of classes!! So fun! I have 12 students and they are in the maternity rotation right now and love learning! And I love teaching them!
I was supposed to keep my class size 4-6. But this group is 9 and they started nursing school together and go through every class together. So i thought I could do 9. Once everyone was there it was 12! One is the head teacher and he decided to take the class too. It was a great class though and I feel like they are learning a lot!
When I started class in the afternoon, I asked them tell me what they learned in the morning class or what was interesting to them. And every student told me something! It gave me so much joy to hear that they learned things like moms don’t have to deliver flat on their back. How important it is for baby to stay with mom, they can wait for shoulders instead of rushing everything!
The plan is that I teach these students this week, nurses next week and another class of students the week after.
The head of the department for maternity at the school said he is impressed with my teaching and wondering if I would plan on coming back to teach more. I know this is God working through me. On the way to class today I told God, I can't teach Lord. You will have to teach through me, because I don't think I will know what to say. But God is good and He gave me the words and ability!
The first picture above is the class room I taught in today. The next is Ambu bags, and the students had to learn to take them apart and put them back together again. (so they can be cleaned) The next picture is our babies that we practice on. They even have a way to make them "breathe" and a heart beat. The last picture is beds with manikins, since this is a skills lab.
