After a very relaxed Sunday, having some volunteers over in the evening for dinner, singing and prayer (our own little church!)
A good night sleep with hearing some buzzing mosquitoes, but knowing they could not get into my beautiful net!
I got my class all ready and met my 6 nursing students at 9:30 am for an all day class. I enjoyed every minute!
Showing them some videos, going over 2nd stage, trying to change a few ideas that they were taught from long ago. Lots of practice exercise.
They all seemed to enjoy the class and listened real close taking notes! We were brought some lunch about 2 pm of beans and rice! Much appreciated!!! And got done about 3 pm, when we were asked to review regular CPR with them too. So Larisa, one of the other volunteers led that one and did a fantastic!
These are experienced nurses, about half of them in Maternity ward, but also from other wards. Since they get moved around, the nursing director wanted to offer training for all nurses.
They had to come in on their day off for this class. So I appreciated that they took their day off to learn. I was able to give each of them a scrub top, since we collected a bunch and packed them in before I came!
Watches, scrubs and pens are little gifts for the hardworking nurses that they really enjoy! I'd like to work on gathering more for my next trip!
We stopped in the labor ward to find there was another still birth. 🙁 This one was a 17 year old girl that delivered very early. We enouraged her to hold her baby and the nurses looked at me funny. I said, in our culture we find this helps with healing. So she let us give her her little baby girl, and joined in comforting the young girl.
I hope these are some things they learn from us, as we learn from them. We can all help and learn from each other in different ways.
Tomorrow I have another new class of to go through the exact same lessons. How exciting to see this come together! Something I longed to do since the 1st time I came and saw the need. ❤️
