Saturday I actually didn't do anything, but write, read, pray and cook. I felt like I needed a day to just unwind and let God work the emotions through. You see a lot of things here. Sad things, cultural things, hard things, beautiful things. So many needs I just want to fix. But do they really need "fixing" or is that just my culture? Before I jump in to my American superwoman mode, I need to talk to the long term missionaries. They are the ones that will be here long after I leave!
Sunday I went to the hospital and it was still pretty slow.
I was cuddling one baby for a while who was waiting for her mama and waiting for another mom for about 3 hours and she ended up needing a C Section too, so instead of going into the C Section, I took up the opportunity to go to the primary school close to the hospital with another volunteer who had been there before.
So this school we think is state run, but is a boarding school. There is a church on the campus and today many of the parents were there going to church and visiting with their kids. A beautiful young lady in 7th grade was showing us around. She had perfect English!
She showed us the class rooms and the dorms. Today after visiting time they clean the class rooms and do their laundry, (by hand). They go to school 6 days a week, but Sat is only a half day.
It was lunch time, and they were eating beans and rice. Nice big plates full! They asked if we wanted to sit with them in the dining hall. The pictures below are the dining hall! Such beautiful children.
